The exciting promise of brownstones and a restaurant being built on the site of old City Hall has certainly helped Cocoa Village property values.  The problem is; the land, valued at $310,000.00, was given away, not sold.  The problem is; Mayor Parrish did not mention that he owns property on the same block.  The problem is; he did not recuse himself from the vote.  The problem is; this is an obvious conflict of interest.  The problem is; he did not question, nor allow anyone to question this transaction.  The problem is; no requests for proposals were sent out.  The problem is; no one has held the developer accountable for failing to break ground within the year as specified in the agreement.  The problem is; the Mayor just sold his nearby property.  The problem is; the Mayor used his public office for personal gain.  The problem is; that this is business as usual in Cocoa, and it goes unquestioned and unchecked.  Hidden beneath the shadow of the water tower.

The Mayor is running for re-election on his record.  A record of lies, greed and corruption.  Closed door, back room, good old boy meetings constituting numerous violations of Florida’s Sunshine Law.  FDLE has investigated public corruption cases involving far less blatant activity.  The Governor has removed Mayors from office for far less as well.
The Mayor is fiscally irresponsible and devoid of honor.  His personal property goes up for bid for delinquent taxes according to the County Property Appraiser’s Office.  If he can’t run his own personal finances, why should he be trusted with looking out for the best interests of the city?  He certainly won’t look out for the best interests of the citizens.  Instead of demanding the public be notified immediately when contaminated water levels exceed maximum allowances, he bottles it and sends it to the citizens of Flint, Michigan, then accepts recognition for this deed.  He feels he is above the law and uses social media along with the chief of police to paint their versions of reality.  Propaganda, but perception is reality.  Wake up Cocoa.  Smell the river.    0829161958a
