Now, an event that took pace in Palm Bay, located right here in Brevard County, Florida, has reached national attention. Jessica McCarty has taken three lives, as today the infant, Christopher Swift lost, his battle for life. The other two children, Lacey and Phillip died within hours of the attack.
Although vile, here is a copy of the warrant for Jessica Mccarty: mccarty (click to view PDF)
Interesting enough on Saturday, DCF releases the following statement:
DCF is grieving the loss to the McCarty and Swist families in the midst of this terrible tragedy. When the lives of innocent children are taken it leaves family, friends and the community with many unanswered questions. The Department is working closely with the Palm Bay Police Department in an effort to determine the circumstances surrounding this incident.
DCF had one prior investigation with the family in 2009 regarding allegations of inadequate supervision. That investigation was closed with findings and the mother was referred and receiving services from a community mental health provider. There have been no other incidents with DCF involvement since that time.
According to NEWS13: Due to the serious nature of the allegations, DCF Secretary Mike Carroll has asked for a review of the circumstances leading up to this incident, led by the Assistant Secretary for Child Welfare and the Assistant Secretary for Substance Abuse and Mental Health.
So, the mother Jessica was REFERRED and RECEIVING services from a community mental health provider…but NO Other involvement with DCF since that time…who was making sure she went?
Ironically, as the report shows, Jessica got off the phone with 911, because she wanted to call her mom…I wish she would have called her mom prior to killing her children. As Moms, we are supposed to care and protect our children, tell them there is no such thing as monsters, not be the monster.
Looking at Jessica’s record on Brevard County Clerk of Courts page, Jessica has been in trouble over that last few years. Obtaining pharmaceutical drugs, fraud, forgery etc. Does that make one a bad mother??? Not necessarily, as often times, parents who have drug issues get more rights to their children than parents who don’t have drug issues.
Do I believe that this chick is crazy? Nope, I believe she is pure evil. Sending pictures to the infant’s father put the icing on the cake for me. Leaving a note, well in my opinion, that is premeditation. I hope Jessica gets charged and sentenced to the death penalty.
To the families of the children, I can not imagine what you are going through, as there is not an explanation. To the officers from Palm Bay Police Department, thanks for doing CPR and on these angels. To the Deputies from the Sheriff’s Department who had to go and photograph the victims, thank you. I could not even fathom this experience.
No one know what to say, and I don’t even think words can be said to help under stand this tragedy, however, I leave y’all with a song:
